SmartestEnergy US LLC has now filed for registration as an ESCO in New York

As exclusively first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com in April, SmartestEnergy is ultimately a subsidiary of the Marubeni Corporation, a major Japanese integrated trading and investment business conglomerate that handles products and provides services in a broad range of sectors, including energy and metals, power projects and plants, transportation and industry machinery, chemical and forest products, and food and consumer products,

Minako Wakayama, President & CEO of Marubeni Power International, is listed as an officer of SmartestEnergy US LLC in its New York retail access application form

Dave French has joined SmartestEnergy as Vice President of Market Operations. French previously served as Vice President of Operations at energy procurement consultant Benchmark Services, Inc., and previously served as Senior Originator at Shell and Energy Trader & Marketing Director at Select Energy

Megan Quill has joined SmartestEnergy as Vice President, Finance. Quill previously served as Vice President & Controller at BlueRock Energy, Inc.

Colton Evans has joined SmartestEnergy as Pricing Manager. Evans previously held various positions at BlueRock Energy, Inc. including Natural Gas Scheduler and Marketing Analyst

In the U.K., SmartestEnergy affiliates offer retail electricity supply to businesses as well as wholesale procurement and trading services. It also offers demand response, peak load management, and electricity storage. SmartestEnergy also offers various services to generators including asset optimization

Of its U.K. services, SmartestEnergy says, "Our dynamic 'aggregation-trading-supply' business model provides a route to market for independent generators and large industrial and commercial consumers across the UK."

In the U.K., SmartestEnergy supplies 8 TWh to over 2,500 C&I customers across 11,000 sites
