The following story is brought free of charge to readers by EC Infosystems, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com

Griddy, which offers Texas retail electric service using a pass-through of wholesale rates and a subscription model, informed customers that it is crediting back all of its members their membership fee for August.

Griddy's membership fee is $9.99 per month

In a tweet, Griddy said, "These [ERCOT] prices have led you to reduce your monthly budget, so we will too. We’ll reduce our marketing spend so that we can return this to you to show you that we genuinely care about our current members."

Griddy noted that it only makes money through the membership fee, tweeting, "We’re giving back literally every dollar we would have earned this month."

RetailEnergyX.com noted the challenges facing Griddy from two days of ERCOT scarcity pricing. RetailEnergyX.com's story has been updated with additional information and statement from Griddy (story here)
