REP Says "Financially Challenging Circumstances" Led To Book Sale To NRG

American Light & Power said that it is selling its Texas retail electric customer book to NRG Energy.

American Light & Power stated an intent to cease providing retail electricity service in Texas and to relinquish its REP certificate upon completion of the transfer of its customers to various NRG retail brands

In an email to certain channel partners, American Light & Power cited, "some unfortunate financially challenging circumstances at AL&P," for the decision

According to the email, American Light & Power will be transitioning customers to NRG's Cirro Energy, Green Mountain Energy, and Discount Power brands. Cirro Energy and Discount Power are trade names of NRG's US Retailers LLC

The NRG companies will honor all current customer contracts and agreements with American Light & Power, with no change to any of the customer's contract rate, contract term, and terms of service
