The following story is brought free of charge to readers by EC Infosystems, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com

PJM earlier today declared a Pre-Emergency Load Management Reduction Action in the AEP, Baltimore Gas & Electric (BGE), Dominion (DOM) and PEPCO service territories.

"PJM declared the emergency due to unseasonably high temperatures and corresponding elevated load," PJM said

The purpose of a Pre-Emergency Load Management Reduction Action is to provide additional load relief by using PJM controllable load management programs.

The Pre-Emergency Load Management Reduction is also a trigger for a Performance Assessment Interval. As a result of this Performance Assessment Interval, capacity resources in the affected area(s) will be evaluated to determine if they are honoring their commitments and providing the expected reliability services in emergency conditions.

The Performance Assessment Interval began at 2 p.m. eastern.

Depending on service area, the reduction actions ended around 3:45 to 4pm today
