Direct Energy Business has created a specialized group, Renewable Energy Services, to focus on renewable and sustainable energy solutions for customers, "and meet the ever-changing needs of commercial & industrial customers."

Dave Grupp, who has been with Direct Energy Business for over 14 years, most recently running the National Key Accounts business, has been named head of this division and will lead the team that includes commercial, customer operations and wholesale origination professionals.

Direct Energy Business’s Renewable Energy Services division will also work closely with their sister-company, Centrica Business Solutions, to bring more sustainable energy options that can increase customers’ resiliency. Centrica Business Solutions offers solar power generation and battery storage, energy efficiency services and demand response to customers to drive efficiency and resiliency.

"The creation of this group ties back to Direct Energy Business and our parent company’s vision of a lower carbon future," said John Schultz, president Centrica North America and Direct Energy Business. "By making renewable energy strategies easier for our customers, we can not only help the environment, but also contribute to our customer’s sustainability goals that are quickly becoming a top priority for large and small businesses alike."

Direct Energy Business has been growing its renewable energy portfolio with several notable wholesale supply agreements including Sunpin Solar in California and Suffield Solar in Alberta this year. "Both projects were prominent for their size and helped to provide renewable power supply options for Direct Energy customers," the company said

"Over the next few months, the Direct Energy Renewable Energy Services group will be working on additional renewable projects in Texas, the PJM territory, Virginia and other competitive electricity markets with the goal of making renewable energy-based products and services easier and more accessible for all retail electricity customers," the company said
