Pennsylvania Sees Slower Decline In Net Loss Of Residential Electric Customers On Competitive Supply

Since late August 2019, Pennsylvania has seen the net decline of the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply slow

Prior to the recent posting of the October migration data, the most recent data had been from late August 2019. September 2019 data was not available

From late August 2019 to late October 2019 (reporting date varies slightly by utility), Pennsylvania saw the statewide aggregate number of residential customers on competitive supply decrease by 12,200 accounts (a two-month period). For comparison, from late July 2019 to late August 2019, the one-month net decline in the number of residential customers on competitive supply had been 8,957 accounts.

The change (over two months) in the number of residential customers on competitive supply at each large EDC from late August 2019 to late October 2019 (reporting date varies slightly by utility) was:

Duquesne Light      (2,837)
Met-Ed              (1,222)
PECO                (1,461)
Penelec               (823)
Penn Power            (314)
PPL                 (4,635)
West Penn Power       (925)

For comparison, the change (over a single month) in the number of residential customers on competitive supply at each large EDC from late July 2019 to late August 2019 (reporting date varies slightly by utility) was:

Duquesne Light        (977)
Met-Ed              (1,251)
PECO                (2,497)
Penelec               (989)
Penn Power            (284)
PPL                 (1,837)
West Penn Power     (1,118)
