Maine Residential, Commercial Default Service Rates Falling About 20%

The Maine PUC has approved new Standard Offer electric rates for the Emera Maine Bangor Hydro District (formerly BHE), for the 12-month period beginning January 1, 2020
For residential and small commercial customers at BHE, the Standard Offer rate for the period January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020 will be $0.068785 per kWh, about 18% lower than the current rate of $0.083695 per kWh
For the BHE medium customer class, the monthly Standard Offer rates will be as follows
On an average basis, the Medium Non-Residential rate is generally about 20% below the current rates
Prices for the large business customer class will be indexed to market prices and set in advance of each month, as was done last year for large business standard offer service
