West Penn Power saw its first monthly net increase in the number of residential electric customers on competitive retail supply since March 2017, according to the latest stats posted by the Pennsylvania PUC

From October 30, 2019 to November 27, 2019, West Penn Power saw a net increase of 2 residential electric customers on competitive retail supply. That compares to a net decline of 925 residential customers on competitive retail supply from late August 2019 to late October 2019 (September data was not posted)

The net increase in the number of residential electric customers on competitive retail supply at West Penn Power from October 2019 to November 2019 is the first net increase in residential shopping at the EDC since March 2017. In March 2017, about 176,000 residential customers at West Penn Power were on competitive retail supply, versus about 144,000 as of November 2019

On a statewide basis, Pennsylvania saw the number of electric customers on competitive retail supply decline by about 5,400 accounts from late October 2019 to late November 2019 (reporting date varies by utility). A month-ago comparison is not available because September data was not posted, but for the two-month period from late August 2019 to late October 2019, the decline in the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply had been 12,000.

The change in the number of residential electric customers on competitive retail supply at each large EDC from late October 2019 to late November 2019 (reporting date varies slightly by utility) was:

Duquesne Light (681)
Met-Ed (399)
