Five Pennsylvania electric distribution companies saw a net gain in the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply during December, as the statewide decline in residential electric shopping narrowed to a loss of 1,000 accounts

Pennsylvania saw the aggregate number of residential electric customers on competitive retail supply decline by about 1,000 accounts from late November 2019 to late December 2019. The reporting date varies by utility, and, for December 2019, Duquesne Light's reported total is as of December 14, versus usually being sometime after the 20th of the month. For comparison, from late October 2019 to late November 2019, Pennsylvania saw the number of residential electric customers on competitive retail supply decline by about 5,400 accounts

From late November 2019 to late December 2019, Met-Ed, Penelec, Penn Power, PPL, and West Penn Power all saw a net increase in the number of residential electric customers on competitive retail supply. For all of those five EDCs, except for West Penn Power, it's the first increase in net residential shopping in a significant period of time

At PPL, it's the first monthly net increase in the number of residential electric customers on competitive retail supply since November 2017

The change in the number of residential electric customers on competitive retail supply at each large EDC from late November 2019 to late December 2019, (reporting date varies slightly by utility) was:
