Michigan Utilities File Final Amounts For 2020 Electric Choice Caps

Several Michigan electric utilities have filed their final 10% choice cap for 2020

DTE Electric Company’s 2020 final 10% choice cap is 4,622,234 MWh. As of January 30, DTE's choice participation was 4,695,765 MWh and no space was available under the cap

Consumers Energy's 2020 final 10% choice cap is 3,648,210 MWh. As of January 30, Consumers Energy's choice participation is 3,774,661 MWh and no space is available under the cap

Indiana Michigan Power has not yet filed a final 2020 10% choice cap. I&M's initial choice cap, based on 11 months plus a forecast, is 273,863 MWh. Current choice participation at I&M is 280,519 MWh and no space is available under the cap

Upper Michigan Energy Resources Corporation's (UMERC) 2020 final 10% choice cap is 223,792 MWh. UMERC's current choice participation is 304,425 MWh, with no space available under the cap

Upper Peninsula Power Company has not yet filed a final 2020 10% choice cap. Upper Peninsula Power Company's initial choice cap, based on 11 months plus a forecast, is 82,986 MWh. Upper Peninsula Power Company's online cap tracking system listed choice participation as 85,742 MWh, with no space available under the cap

Northern States Power Company's 2020 final 10% choice cap is 13,813 MWh. Northern States Power currently has no customers with active or enrolled choice load.

Alpena Power Company has not yet filed a final 2020 10% choice cap. Alpena Power Company's initial choice cap, based on 11 months plus a forecast, is 33,507 MWh. Alpena said in a January 3 filing that none of Alpena’s customers are currently being served by an AES nor is Alpena aware of any active program by an AES to initiate sales in Alpena’s service territory.
