Arizona Commissioner Seeks Workshop On Community Choice Aggregation

Following a Commission meeting on retail electric choice held earlier this week (see story here), Arizona Corporation Commissioner Sandra Kennedy said that further workshops are warranted, and that, "I am particularly interested in learning more about Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) and the potential benefits and costs to Arizona communities."

"Potential topics for a future workshop should include enabling legislation/regulation, creation and procurement best practices, and equity impacts of CCAs on rural, low-income communities, and communities of color," Kennedy wrote in a memo

Kennedy wrote that, "Ideally, a CCA workshop would include additional input from previous workshop participants, as well as input from participants in operational CCAs in other parts of the country and interested stakeholders in Arizona."

Kennedy would like to invite the following individuals and entities to this future workshop:

• Shawn Marshall, LEAN Energy

• Natasha Keefer, Clean Power Alliance

• Jose Hernandez, IDEATE California

• A representative from Lancaster Choice Energy

• Representatives from municipalities, counties, and other political bodies that would be impacted by CCA formation throughout Arizona
