New York Residential Electric Customers On Competitive Supply Largely Flat Statewide During 2019 (Declines Offset By Municipal Aggregation)

The New York PSC posted year-end electricity and natural gas migration reports for the year 2019
For electricity, the statewide number of residential accounts on competitive supply was 1,076,115 as of December 2019, a 0.7% decline versus the December 2018 total of 1,083,661. Total statewide residential electric migration, in terms of accounts, was 17.7% as of December 2019
Although the PSC does not separately list customer accounts on municipal aggregations, several municipal aggregations launched during 2019, ostensibly accounting for an increase in competitive supply customers in certain service areas.
At ConEd for electricity, the number of residential accounts on competitive supply was 569,100 as of December 2019, a 4.1% decline versus the December 2018 total of 593,177. Total ConEd residential electricity migration, in terms of accounts, was 19.5% as of December 2019
At Niagara Mohawk for electricity, the number of residential accounts on competitive supply was 216,693 as of December 2019, a 3.4% decline versus the December 2018 total of 224,406. Total NiMo residential electricity migration, in terms of accounts, was 14.2% as of December 2019
Central Hudson saw the number of residential electric accounts on competitive supply increase to 53,087 as of December 2019, a 68% increase from 31,557 a year ago
NYSEG saw the number of residential electric accounts on competitive supply increase to 131,470 as of December 2019, a 3.3% increase from 127,308 a year ago
Orange & Rockland saw the number of residential electric accounts on competitive supply increase to 61,549 as of December 2019, a 1.3% increase from 60,760 a year ago
Rochester Gas & Electric saw a 4.8% decline in the number of migrated residential accounts during 2019
For natural gas, the statewide number of residential accounts on competitive supply was 493,338 as of December 2019, a 7.5% decline versus the December 2018 total of 533,213. Total statewide residential natural gas migration, in terms of accounts, was 10.8% as of December 2019
At ConEd for natural gas, the number of residential accounts on competitive supply was 102,837 as of December 2019, a 6.8% decline versus the December 2018 total of 110,291. Total ConEd residential natural gas migration, in terms of accounts, was 10.9% as of December 2019
At KeySpan New York, the number of residential accounts on competitive supply was 143,467 as of December 2019, an 8.2% decline versus the December 2018 total of 156,280. Total KeySpan New York residential natural gas migration, in terms of accounts, was 12.1% as of December 2019
Orange & Rockland was the only natural gas utility to see an increase in the number of residential natural gas customers on competitive supply, with migrated customers increasing to 36,386 accounts as of December 2019, up 3% from 35,260 as of December 2018.
