TXU Energy announced a series of steps it has taken to help customers that may incur economic hardship related to the coronavirus pandemic

TXU said that such actions include:

• Waiving late fees

• Extending payment due dates with no down payment required

• Reducing down payments and deferring balances over five equal installments

TXU said that, "If a customer is unable to pay their bill, we're here to help. To take advantage of this assistance, TXU Energy customers should call 1-800-242-9113."

Separately, City of Austin Utilities, including Austin Energy, has suspended all utility disconnects for non-payment

Austin Energy, which manages customer care and billing for all City of Austin utilities, said that it also offers several programs that help customers stay on track with their utility bills:

• Customers can be placed on a deferred payment plan. This will ensure the customer receives uninterrupted utility services as they work with utility representatives to develop a long-term plan that meets their financial needs.

• Limited income customers and medically vulnerable customers may receive assistance through our Customer Assistance Programs. This will provide immediate and lasting utility bill relief for customers.

CPS Energy has also suspended disconnections
