Massachusetts Utility's Residential, Small Commercial Default Service Rate Falling 25%

The Massachusetts DPU has approved new electric basic service rates at Fitchburg Gas and Electric Light d/b/a Unitil, for the six month period beginning June 1, 2020

All rates below include Basic Service Costs Adder of $0.00635/kWh, effective December 1, 2019.

Starting June 1, the six-month fixed basic service charge for residential customers (RD-1, RD-2) and Small General (GD-1) commercial customers is $0.09300/kWh. That's about 25% lower than the current rate of $0.12388/kWh.

Unitil reported that, based upon the pricing received in response to the basic service RFP, Unitil selected Exelon Generation Company, LLC as the supplier for the portion of the Small Customer Group basic service supply requirement bid in the RFP, and Dynegy Marketing and Trade, LLC as the supplier for the portion of the Medium Customer Group basic service supply requirement bid in the RFP, for the twelve-month period beginning June 1, 2020.
