The Secretary Of the New York PSC has granted an extension request from Department of Public Service Staff concerning a deadline for Staff to file a report regarding the development of financial assurance requirements for energy service companies (ESCOs) as a condition of eligibility to serve customers

As previously reported, such a report was required under the PSC's retail market reset order. The report was originally due on April 10

Staff had requested an extension until May 29, 2020, and Staff's request was granted by the Secretary Of the New York PSC

"Based upon the information you have provided, an extension is granted to May 29, 2020, to Department of Public Service Staff to comply with the directives set forth in ordering clause 10 of the Commission’s Order," the Secretary said

Staff had noted in its extension request that Staff met with interested stakeholders on February 26, 2020, and has received informal comments from several stakeholders throughout the following weeks. Staff said that it continues to work on its proposal for ESCO financial assurance requirements; however, Staff requested additional time to develop a recommendation that complies with the Commission’s directive.
