Partnership Organization Of Region's CEOs Launching Retail Electric Broker, Aggregator

Start-up Smart Columbus Energy LLC has applied for an Ohio electric broker/aggregator license to serve all customer classes, including residential customers and commercial customers, in all service areas throughout the state

Smart Columbus Energy LLC (SCE) is a sole member nonprofit LLC, with its sole member being the Columbus Partnership.

On its website, Columbus Partnership states that it, "was founded as a non-profit, membership-based organization of CEOs from Columbus’ leading businesses and institutions."

On its website, Columbus Partnership states that, "Through our membership and other ally organizations across Central Ohio, the Columbus Partnership upholds a shared vision to make Columbus the most prosperous region in the United States. "

In its application, Smart Columbus Energy states, "Smart Columbus Energy LLC (SCE) was formed in 2020 to provide clean energy solutions to companies in the Central Ohio region through electricity aggregation. Smart Columbus utilizes its industry partnerships and membership to scale buying power to offer cost effective clean energy for participating customers."

In its application, Smart Columbus Energy states, "With SCE, customers are able to access pricing for clean energy from Ohio assets they otherwise would not receive on their own. SCE also provides a simple, turn-key solution for companies to purchase electricity from assets in Ohio and in turn, meet many of their carbon reporting and environmental, social, and governance goals, without the high transaction costs associated with procuring clean power directly from project developers."

Mark Patton serves as Vice President at Smart Columbus Energy. Patton serves as Vice President, Smart Cities at Columbus Partnership. Previously, Patton served as Senior Managing Director at JobsOhio, and Chief Development Officer at the Ohio Department of Development.

Patton has also held VP or other senior sales positions in various companies in a variety of fields. Among these, Patton was VP, Worldwide Sales at Encover, Inc., a BPO company in service renewals market that was acquired by Concentrix/Synnex in 2010. Patton has also served as VP and GM America's Region at Logitech; Director of Sales at Apple Computer; and District Sales Manager at Procter & Gamble

Zach McGuire is listed as Smart Columbus Energy's contact for PUCO Staff inquiries concerning customer complaints, with the title of Associate Director. McGuire has served as EV and Smart Mobility Adoption Manager at the Columbus Partnership
