The following story is brought free of charge to readers by EC Infosystems, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com

Commonwealth Edison has filed new electric supply rates, known as Purchased Electricity Charges (PECs), for the period beginning June 1, 2020, as well as new bypassable transmission charges

The ComEd Purchased Electricity Charges (PECs) are the largest portion of the Price to Compare. A separate transmission charge (PJM Services Charges, PSC) is also included in the Price to Compare (PTC). The Purchased Electricity Adjustment (PEA, reconciliation) is also bypassable but not included in the Price to Compare.

Note that information in this story reflects rates as filed by ComEd on April 27. Based on prior history, a further filing may result in a de minimis change in the PECs and PSCs due to results of the PJM Financial Transmission Rights (FTR) auction, which closes at the end of the month

For residential customers, the ComEd residential Price to Compare is to be 6.404¢ per kWh effective June 1, 2020, through September 30, 2020. That's almost 11% lower than the current PTC of 7.175¢ per kWh. It's also lower than the year-ago summer PTC of 6.725¢ per kWh

The decline in the residential ComEd PTC is nearly entirely driven by a 13% decline in the PEC (energy supply); the transmission charge has a de minimis change

Similarly, for Watt-hour Non-Electric Space Heating customers, the new June 1, 2020 PTC is about 11% below the current PTC, and the new June 1, 2020 PEC is about 13% below the current PEC

ComEd Purchased Electricity Charges (PECs) are below. Note that the listed non-summer PECs are indicative, and rates may be updated depending on any fall 2020 procurement event conducted by the Illinois Power Agency
