Illinois Opens New Rulemaking On Retail Electric, Gas Supplier Marketing
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by EC Infosystems, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
The Illinois Commerce Commission has opened Docket 20-0457 to address Amendment of 83 Ill. Adm. Code 412, relating to obligations of alternative retail electric suppliers, and various marketing rules, and consolidated the case with an existing natural gas supplier marketing rules proceeding
Among the reasons for the new proceeding is to reflect in the rule various new statutory provisions or retail electric and gas suppliers under last year's Senate Bill 651, which was signed into law as Public Act 101-590, the Home Energy Affordability and Transparency (HEAT) Act, which took effect on January 1, 2020.

Additionally, the ICC consolidated the new proceeding with Docket No. 17-0857, which had been addressing application of various electric marketing rules to the gas market, but which had been paused pending legislative action on the HEAT Act
A proposed order had previously been issued in the gas marketing case at Docket No. 17-0857, see background on these proposed rules in EnergyChoiceMatters.com's exclusive analysis here
