ComEd Residential, Small Commercial Prices To Compare To Increase 10% In October
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by EC Infosystems, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
Commonwealth Edison has filed updated new electric supply rates, known as Purchased Electricity Charges (PECs), for the period beginning October 1, 2020
The ComEd Purchased Electricity Charges (PECs) are the largest portion of the Price to Compare. A separate transmission charge (PJM Services Charges, PSC) is also included in the Price to Compare (PTC). The Purchased Electricity Adjustment (PEA, reconciliation) is also bypassable but not included in the Price to Compare.
ComEd's filing shows new PECs effective October 1, 2020 (as well as de minimis PEC changes for September 2020 for non-lighting customers). Additionally, the filing shows new PSCs for the period starting September 2020, through May 2021, which reflect no change in the residential PSC, and de minimis changes (less than 1 mill per kWh) for non-lighting commercial customers
Based on the new PECs and PSC, for residential customers, the ComEd residential Price to Compare is to be 7.135¢ per kWh effective October 1, 2020 through May 31, 2021. That's about 10% higher than the September 2020 PTC of 6.475¢ per kWh
ComEd's Watt-hour Non-Electric Space Heating class Price to Compare will also see an increase of about 10%, from 6.452¢/kWh (September 2020) to 7.126¢/kWh, effective October 1
The new PECs and PSCs for other customer classes for the period beginning October 1, 2020 can be found in ComEd's tariff filing here
