Direct Energy Launches New Texas Residential Plan With Two Months Free

Direct Energy has launched in Texas a new residential electric plan called Two Months of Free Energy 24, a new 24-month fixed price electricity plan for Texans that gives customers free power in January 2021 and January 2022.
Specifically, for the two free months of power under the plan, the company will not charge customers for energy charges, delivery/transmission charges, or any other utility-related charges for usage in such months
In the Oncor service area, at 1,000 kWh usage, the 24-month fixed rate Two Months of Free Energy 24 has an all-in average rate of 12.2¢ per kWh, reflecting an auto-pay discount of 0.5¢ per kWh, as well as an energy charge of 7.9¢ per kWh, a base charge of $4.95, and Oncor Electric Delivery Delivery Charges of $3.42 per month and 3.922¢ per kWh. The plan has an early termination fee of $135
"This plan lets customers start the new year off right with free power, and gives them an extra month to recover from holiday expenses. Unlike other offers in the market, the plan gives the entire month free and provides a stable price for rest of the year," Direct Energy said
Direct Energy noted that customers are also eligible for the Reduce Your Use Rewards program that gives them the opportunity to save 10 percent off their bill when they reduce their use during peak times
Direct Energy's CPL Retail Energy brand will also be offering a Two Months Free Energy 24 plan.
