NRG Announces Early Termination of Hart-Scott-Rodino Waiting Period for Direct Energy Acquisition

NRG Energy Inc. announced that, on October 7, 2020, the Company received notice from the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission granting early termination of the Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) waiting period for its previously announced Direct Energy acquisition (story here)
NRG said that the Company has received Centrica Shareholder, Canadian Competition Act and HSR approvals. The acquisition remains subject to approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
The acquisition is targeted to close by year end 2020, NRG said
