SWEPCO Files Texas Rate Case, Includes New Optional REC Purchase Rider, EV Rider, Residential TOU Pilot
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by EC Infosystems, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) has filed a new rate case with the Texas PUC
The rate case is notable because, as exclusively first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, East Texas Salt Water Disposal Company (ETSWD) has filed with the Public Utility Commission of Texas a petition for declaratory order and request for the opening of a pilot retail electric choice implementation project at SWEPCO
SWEPCO's rate case includes proposed new service offerings, including a voluntary REC purchase option for customers
The proposed new Renewable Energy Credit (REC) Rider would allow customers to purchase RECs at a customer-selected percentage, up to 100% of their usage. The REC price, set annually, would be
the most recent 12-month average value using the S&P Global Renewable Energy Credit Index for
Texas RECs.
SWEPCO is also proposing a Residential Plug-in Electric Vehicle Rider, an optional Residential Time-of-Use rate schedule pilot, and an optional Commercial Time-of-Use rate schedule pilot.
