Westchester Power Municipal Aggregation Selects Retail Supplier For ConEd Service Area For New Term

Opt-Out Notice Now Compares Rates To ESCO Rate

Effective January 1, 2021, Westchester Power has selected Constellation NewEnergy to serve the 23 communities in the Con Edison utility territory of its opt-out municipal aggregation

Westchester Power's new rates for its ConEd communities, which will remain fixed until June 2022, are below:

Residential (EL1)
Standard Supply: 6.749¢ per kWh
100% Green:      7.405¢ per kWh

Small Commercial (EL2): 
Standard Supply: 6.445¢ per kWh
100% Green:      7.710¢ per kWh

Westchester Power's 100% Green plan is backed by 100% New York State Hydropower Renewable Energy Certificates.

In addition to listing a 12-month utility rate on its opt-out notice, Westchester Power has begun listing, for the residential rate comparison, a "Lowest Comparable Green Product," reflecting an ESCO rate.

Specifically, Westchester Power lists the Lowest Comparable Green Product as 7.800 cents per kWh, "[b]ased on prices displayed on NYS DPS Power to Choose website as of 10/15/2020 for a comparable green product (100% renewable NYS electricity supply at a fixed rate for 12 months without a cancellation fee) in zip code 10601."

The most recent prior opt-out notice from Westchester Power publicly accessible through the New York's PSC docket system did not include a comparison to such an ESCO rate
