Columbus, Ohio Approves Opt-Out Electricity Aggregation

Voters in the City of Columbus, Ohio approved this week creation of a municipal, opt-out electricity aggregation program

AEP Energy had been previously selected as preferred supplier for the aggregation

The municipal aggregation is anticipated to be the third largest in the U.S., and the largest in Ohio

The City has stated an intent to procure 100% renewable energy under the aggregation by the end of 2022 and has signed an MOU with AEP Energy to such effect, though the voter authorization itself does not bind the City to such a decision
