The Maine PUC has approved new Standard Offer rates at Versant Power-Bangor Hydro District (formerly Bangor Hydro-Electric, or BHE), as well as for the Large customer class at Versant Power-Maine Public District (formerly Maine Public Service or MPS).

For the small customer class at BHE (residential and small C&I), the Standard Offer rate is $0.061960 per kWh, fixed for the period January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021, or 10% lower than the current rate of $0.068785 per kWh

For the BHE Medium C&I class, new Standard Offer rates vary by month, but the PUC said that medium class customers will see an average 12% decrease annually in the supply portion of their bill.

The BHE Medium customer class Standard Offer rates are below:

BHE Medium Customer Class

Jan-21 $0.077352
Feb-21 $0.077456

Standard Offer rates for the BHE large customer class will be indexed to market prices and set in advance of each month, as done currently.

The PUC also set rates for certain classes at Versant Power-Maine Public District (formerly Maine Public Service or MPS).

Standard Offer Suppliers for the MPS Residential/Small Business Class and Medium Business Class were awarded multi-year contracts last year, and updated prices for these classes will be calculated and released on November 19, 2020, the PUC said

For the MPS large customer class, the Standard Offer rate will be fixed at $0.07979 per kW for the period January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021, a 6% decrease versus the current rate of $0.08500 per kWh.
