Regulator Approves POR Discount Rate Of Nearly 8%

The Massachusetts DPU approved new Standard Complete Billing Percentages (purchase of receivables [POR] discount rates) at Fitchburg Gas and Electric d/b/a Unitil, to be effective December 1, 2020

The new residential POR discount rate of 7.90% is more than double the prior rate of 3.38%

The new Small/Regular General Service POR discount rate is 0.90%, versus the prior discount of 0.71%

Fitchburg Gas and Electric's approved Standard Complete Billing Percentages to be effective December 1, 2020 are as follows:

Residential
Uncollectible       5.10%
Reconciliation      2.80%
Total               7.90%



Small/Regular General Service
Uncollectible       0.26%
Reconciliation      0.64%
Total               0.90%

The uncollectibles only reflect write-offs through December 2019.

For comparison, Fitchburg Gas and Electric's prior Standard Complete Billing Percentages are as follows:
