Zone One Energy Deemed Eligible To Serve Mass Market Customers Under New NY PSC-Established Generic Products; Believed To Be First Such ESCO Certification
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by EC Infosystems, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
After reviewing Zone One Energy LLC's updated ESCO Retail Access Application Package filed in response to the PSC's retail market reset order (which included product limits for mass market service), New York Department Of Public Service Staff have determined Zone One Energy's filing to be in compliance with the Uniform Business Practices and the requirements set forth in the reset order and, therefore, Staff, "acknowledges that Zone One Energy LLC has been deemed eligible to serve Fixed Rate with Cap and Variable Rate with Guaranteed Savings to electric residential and small non-residential customers (mass market customers) in New York State."
Zone One Energy LLC told EnergyChoiceMatters that it believes it is the first ESCO to receive such a designation with respect to offering a Fixed Rate with Cap plan and Variable Rate with Guaranteed Savings plan to mass market customers. A day after Zone One Energy LLC received its eligibility determination, DPS Staff found Agway Energy Services LLC to be deemed eligible to serve mass market customers, but only via Agway's unique Value Added Product with EnergyGuard, and not any of the "generic" products the PSC has approved for mass market service
Of its guaranteed savings product, Zone One Energy said, "Our guaranteed savings product is unique as it is month-to-month, and provides our customers with immediate and ongoing savings. Additionally, we do not require our customers to be with us for a minimum period of time to be eligible for savings, as they can cancel any time without forfeiture of the financial benefits that we offer." Zone One Energy said that savings are typically at least 3% but can go as high as 6%. "Our guarantee represents the minimum savings that a customer may get, which is why we state 'at least,'" the company said
The guaranteed savings product is offered across all service classifications in Con Edison's NYC and Westchester territories (Zones J, G, H, I)
Of the pricing of the fixed price product, Zone One Energy said, "Our cap complies with the PSC order, but when we can offer a fixed price below the cap, we will. Keep in mind this is simply the max we are allowed to charge, but from a business perspective, we keep our rates as low as possible."
