Retail Supplier Seeks Same In-Person Marketing Authorization Recently Granted To NRG Energy

Several of the Vistra Energy retail energy suppliers in Illinois have filed motions with the Illinois Commerce Commission asking that the ICC grant, for both electricity and natural gas, authorization to conduct in-person marketing at storefronts and similar retail establishments under the same conditions as the Commission recently authorized for the NRG Energy retail suppliers
As first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, the ICC recently adopted an interim order allowing several NRG Energy retail electric suppliers to resume in-person marketing at storefronts and similar retail establishments under various conditions. NRG has a pending request to expand such authority to natural gas sales.
"[T]he Vistra Retailers respectfully
request that the Commission allow the Vistra Retailers to conduct the exact same in-person
solicitation in retail stores as requested by NRG as reflected in the Interim Order dated January 6,
2021 in ICC Docket No. 20-0310," Vistra said.
The Vistra retailers said that this request is in addition to a prior request to conduct in-person marketing to non-residential customers, and Vistra does not intend to withdraw or rescind its prior non-residential motion with the new filing.
As first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, an Illinois ALJ issued a ruling last week that denied separate petitions from the Vistra retail suppliers, as well as IGS Energy, for the resumption of various forms of in-person retail energy marketing that would occur in locations other than retail storefronts.
