In filing a 10-K for the year ending December 31, 2020, NRG reported mass market customer data.

As of December 31, 2020, NRG was serving a total of 3.587 million mass market customers, versus 3.599 million as of September 30, 2020, and 3.678 million a year ago

The net loss of 12,000 mass market customers from September 30, 2020 to December 31, 2020 compares to a net loss of 19,000 mass market customers from June 30, 2020 to September 30, 2020

NRG's acquisition of Direct Energy closed in January 2021 and such acquired customers are not included in the December 31, 2020 totals. Following the Direct acquisition, NRG serves more than 6 million customers

During 2020, NRG acquired multiple books of customers totaling approximately 56,000 customers for $22 million (See details on some of the acquired books here)

NRG sold approximately 68.2 TWhs of electricity and 23.5 MMDth of natural gas in 2020. In 2020, the company sold approximately 20 TWhs of electricity to C&I customers and managed approximately 1,750 MWs of demand response positions across its portfolio.
