Update: PUC Orders Waiver Of Utility Switching Fee For Customers Dropped To Default Service, Due To Retail Supplier's Default, Who Wish To Choose New Supplier

A Public Utilities Commission of Ohio Attorney Examiner ordered that the utility switching fee be waived for customers who are dropped to the Standard Service Offer, due to the previously reported default of Entrust Energy East Inc. at PJM, and who wish to choose a new competitive retail supplier
"[T]he
attorney examiner notes any applicable enrollment switching fees in the EDUs’ tariffs that
would apply to customers enrolling with a new CRES [competitive retail electric service] provider should be waived for
Entrust’s customers for 60 days. As such, a customer being served by Entrust may choose
to switch to a new alternative supplier at any time within that 60-day period without
restriction or additional fees associated with that choice," the Attorney Examiner ruled
The Attorney Examiner said that 3,500 Ohio customers were
being served by Entrust at the time of default. These customers were located in all four of the Ohio investor-owned electric utility service areas.
