AltaGas Reports "Strong Performance" In WGL's Retail Energy Marketing Business In Q1

In reporting increased first quarter earnings at the corporate level and its utilities segment (which includes its retail energy marketing business), AltaGas Ltd. cited as a driver for the improvement, "strong performance in WGL's Retail Energy Marketing business driven by higher demand,
favorable pricing and margins, and reduced COVID-related impacts."
AltaGas said that its retail energy marketing business saw higher retail gas and electric margins during the first quarter of 2021.
In the first quarter of 2021, AltaGas' U.S. competitive retail gas sales volumes were 24,696 Mmcf, compared to 21,916 Mmcf in the same quarter of
2020. The increase was primarily due to colder weather in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same quarter of 2020.
In the first quarter of 2021, AltaGas' U.S.
competitive retail electricity sales volumes were 3,249 GWh in the first quarter of 2021, compared to 3,511 GWh in the same quarter of
2020. The decrease was primarily due to COVID-19 impacts, partially offset by an increase in customers served
