NRG has filed a 10-Q for the period ending March 31, 2021 which provides various metrics on its retail business, including customer count

NRG reported its ending retail Home customer count for the periods below as follows:

* "Home" customer count includes recurring residential and small commercial customers, including municipal aggregations. "Home" customer count was used for 3/31/21 and 3/31/20, and is a new label used in NRG's most recent 10-Q. The 12/31/20 data reflects "Mass Market" customers which is understood to be the same metric under a prior name as used in NRG's FY 2020 10-K

As used throughout this story, the Home segment includes residential and small commercial customers

NRG closed on the Direct Energy acquisition on Jan. 5, 2021, and the mass market Direct Energy customers are reflected in the 3/31/21 customer counts

NRG's Home electricity sales volumes were 14,582 GWh for the quarter ending March 31, 2021, versus 10,296 GWh a year ago

Business electricity sales volumes were 20,992 GWh for the quarter ending March 31, 2021, versus 4,845 GWh a year ago

Home natural gas sales volumes were 78,130 MDth for the quarter ending March 31, 2021, versus 10,509 GWh a year ago

Business natural gas sales volumes were 264,588 MDth for the quarter ending March 31, 2021; there were no comparable volumes in the year-ago quarter (reflects added business from Direct Energy)

NRG's Retail revenue for the quarter ending March 31, 2021 was $6.162 billion, versus $1.661 billion a year ago

For the first quarter 2021 Retail revenue, $2.1 billion was from the Texas segment (Home and Business), and $3.5 billion was from the East segment

Of the first quarter 2021 Retail revenue, $1.5 billion was from the Texas Home segment
