New Retail Supplier Selected For New York Municipal Aggregation Covering Nine Municipalities, Including Poughkeepsie

With their initial community choice aggregation supply contract expiring June 30th, the Hudson Valley Community Power (HVCP) has selected Columbia Utilities to supply electricity to nine municipalities, with an additional four municipalities expected to join the program under the supply contract

The new contract, for both residential and small business customers, will run from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2024. Thus far, nine municipalities chose 100% renewable electricity from Columbia Utilities as their default energy option. Eight of nine communities will also offer a fixed rate standard supply option

Included in the contract are the Cities of Beacon and Poughkeepsie, Towns of Marbletown, Clinton, Red Hook, New Paltz, and Philipstown, and the Villages of Cold Spring and New Paltz

Joule Community Power expects the Town of Gardiner, Village of Nelsonville, Town of Rhinebeck, and Town of Saugerties to join the program under the terms of the second electricity supply contract effective July 2021, bringing the number of participating communities to thirteen. Joule will continue to serve as the Program Administrator.

Hudson Valley Community Power rates under the new contract are as follows

Residential

• 100% NYS Renewable Fixed Rate: $0.06573 per kWh

• HVCP Standard Fixed Rate: $0.05968 per kWh

Small Commercial

• 100% NYS Renewable Fixed Rate: $0.07112 per kWh

• HVCP Standard Fixed Rate: $0.06215 per kWh

The CCA had more than 24,000 participants in its initial supply contract, which ran through June 2021
