Direct Energy Offering $320 In Amazon Gift Cards Under New Texas Electricity Offers

Direct Energy is now offering Texas residential electric customers $320 in Amazon gift cards for enrolling and maintaining service on three of what it said were its most popular electricity plans: Free Power Weekends 24 Plus, Twelve Hour Power 24 Plus (free nights), and Live Brighter 24 Plus.
Under the program, the customer will receive quarterly Amazon gift card installments of $40, which can be redeemed through an already established Amazon account, or by creating a new Amazon account. The balance(s) will be added directly to the customer's Amazon account balance or can be redeemed via claim code sent directly to their Amazon account-related email address.
Customers will receive their first gift card after their first 50 days on the Direct Energy plan and after paying their first bill on time and in full. Afterwards, the customer will receive an email from Amazon every three months with instructions for how to apply the new Amazon.com gift card to the customer's Amazon account. The total of $320 in gift cards will be provided in eight quarterly $40 gift cards, so long as the customer's account remains in good standing with Direct Energy
Each of the three plans listed above which include the gift cards are 24-month fixed rate plans, and include a $135 early termination fee
In the Oncor service area, Direct Energy's Live Brighter 24 Plus plan has an average all-in rate of 11.3 cents per kWh (at 1,000 kWh usage), which reflects an energy charge of 7.0¢ per kWh, a Base Charge of $4.95, and Oncor Electric Delivery Charges of $3.42 per month and 3.493¢ per kWh
