Reliant Announces Incentives For Texas Customers To Conserve Energy During Periods Of High Electricity Demand, New Enrollment Bonus
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by EC Infosystems, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
Reliant announced that Texas residential customers with an eligible smart thermostat who enroll in its automated Degrees of Difference program by June 11, 2021 will receive a $25 bill credit, and be automatically entered to win a year of free electricity through the Reliant Smart Energy Sweepstakes.
Customers who sign up after the June 11 sweepstakes deadline will still receive a $25 bill credit
As previously reported, Reliant's automated Degrees of Difference demand response program is a completely automated program under which Reliant may control the customer's Google Nest, Honeywell Home or Emerson Sensi smart thermostat. Once enrolled, the smart thermostat automatically adjusts by a few degrees during specified conservation events, though homeowners are always in control and can change the temperature at any time.
Reliant also noted that, "New customers can sign up for various electricity plans bundled with a Google Nest thermostat at no additional cost."
Reliant also offers residential customers a non-automated Degrees of Difference program under which Reliant will pay a bill credit of $0.60 per kWh for using less electricity than normal during specified reduction periods. Under the non-automated program, which relies on customer-initiated actions, Reliant will email the customer the day prior to an anticipated period of high demand with the hours of requested reduction
The manual, non-automated Degrees of Difference program is also offered to small business customers, with a bill credit of $0.60 per kWh of reduced usage (versus a baseline) during events, per information currently on Reliant's website.
