New Mitsubishi Retail Energy Subsidiary Seeks License In Yet Another New State

Diamond Energy East, LLC, which is ultimately a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation, applied for a District of Columbia electric supplier license to serve all customer classes, including residential customers
In its application, Diamond Energy East stated, "Applicant intends to provide retail electric generation service to all end-user customer types in
the District of Columbia, including residential, commercial, and industrial, as well as any other
eligible classes of customers. Applicant may also offer additional energy-related products,
which may include but are not limited to voluntary green energy products, the procurement of
renewable energy certificates, demand response, distributed energy products or services, home
energy management devices, energy management services, home service plans or other
bundled products and services."
As previously reported, Diamond Energy East said that it is also currently applying for retail supplier licenses in Maryland, Delaware, Illinois, New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania, and an affiliate has already received a Texas REP certificate
Diamond Energy affiliates expect to file for retail supplier licenses (or similar instruments) in New York and various New England states by the end of 2021
The creation of several Diamond Energy subsidiaries by Mitsubishi Corporation, with the intent to operate as retail electric providers in various markets, had been first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com earlier this year (see details here)
