Texas Retail Provider Announces New Program To Reward Customers For Conservation During Called Events

Octopus Energy announced the launch of a program, called Superpower Savings, to provide Texas customers with rewards for reduced usage during called events

The program allows customers, on an opt-in basis, to give Octopus control over their EcoBee smart thermostat and automatically set it at an 80 degree threshold during called events

In return, users will receive a credit on their next bill statement for helping to conserve energy during peak times.

Information on Octopus' website states, "During our pilot program - savings events could range from 0 to 4 hours each month (with each event ranging from 15 mins up to 90 mins max) with credits to your account of up to $20 based on your baseline usage and amount of energy conserved."

Customers without a smart thermostat can also participate by opting to receive a notification for the next event and texting Octopus Energy their account number and a picture of their thermostat set to at least 80 degrees to receive a reward.

Octopus Energy’s Superpower Savings program will soon be integrated with other smart thermostats.

Octopus further said, "In addition to the Superpower Savings program, Octopus Energy gives customers full wholesale power credits when they sell back to the grid."
