PUC Issues RFP For State Green Power Provider

The Maine Public Utilities Commission (Commission) issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) today for the Maine Green Power provider.
The program is offered through the State’s transmission and distribution utilities, Central Maine Power (CMP) and Versant Power, and allows residential and small commercial electricity customers to elect to purchase renewable energy credits (RECs) in 500 kWh blocks (or a one-half block)
3Degrees currently runs the program in Maine
The Commission is seeking proposals from providers to manage the program for a five-year term beginning January 1, 2022. Proposals are due on or before September 30, 2021.
As in past years, the Commission is not requesting a proposal for a premium green power
offer; however, bidders may propose a premium product and the Commission may
consider any proposals to expand the program to include a premium product in its
evaluation.

Separately, the PUC also issued customary RFPs for standard offer service supplies
