The following story is brought free of charge to readers by EC Infosystems, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com

MP2 Energy Texas LLC, a Shell Energy North America subsidiary, has formally filed at the Texas PUC for an amendment to its Option 1 Texas retail electric provider certificate to reflect the use of a new assumed name, "Shell Energy Solutions", and to add such name to the certificate

EnergyChoiceMatters.com had exclusively reported this summer that MP2 Energy Texas LLC has filed, with the Texas Secretary of State, certificates of assumed business names for the name "Shell Energy Solutions" as well as the name "Shell Energy Retail"

MP2 Energy Texas LLC offers service to residential customers in addition to commercial and industrial customers

Separately, another MP2 Energy company, MP2 Energy NE LLC, filed a notice at the New York PSC stating that it intends to use the new trade name "Shell Energy Solutions" effective on or about October 6, 2021.

As first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, MP2 Energy NE LLC recently filed with the District of Columbia PSC a notice of the new trade name "Shell Energy Solutions"

Despite operating several retail suppliers in the U.S., including MP2 Energy, Shell, in the past decade, has not been using the Shell brand name for a mass market retail energy business in the U.S. (though the Shell logo and business affiliation are prominently featured on MP2 marketing materials)

Shell previously operated Shell Energy Services in the natural gas mass market, but sold such company's retail energy assets to MXenergy in 2006.

Shell does use the Shell brand for its mass market retail energy business in the U.K.

Shell does operate a Shell-branded non-residential focused retail supplier -- Shell Energy North America (US) LP -- in various U.S. markets, including Texas

As previously reported, Shell earlier this year acquired Texas REP Pulse Power, and recently closed on its acquisition of Inspire Energy
