Fitchburg Gas and Electric Light Company d/b/a Unitil has filed with the Massachusetts DPU electric basic service rates for the period beginning December 1, 2021.

All rates listed in this story include the current Basic Service Costs Adder of $0.00796/kWh, effective December 1, 2020. The Basic Service Costs Adder may change prior to implementation of the new default service rates, resulting in the rates listed below changing.

As filed, the fixed basic service charge for residential customers (RD-1, RD-2) and Small General (GD-1) commercial customers is $0.19880 per kWh for the period December 2021 to May 2022. That's about 108% higher than the current rate of $0.09554/kWh

Additional rates are below; the rates remain subject to DPU approval.

Based upon the pricing received in response to an RFP, Unitil selected NextEra Energy Marketing, LLC as the supplier for both the Small Customer Group basic service supply requirement and the Medium Customer Group basic service supply requirement for the six-month period beginning December 1, 2021.

The six-month delivery period and 100% service block, which differs from the twelve month period set forth in D.T.E. 02-40-B, was chosen due to uncertainty over the implementation date of the municipal aggregation proposed by the City of Fitchburg in D.P.U. 20-117
