Utility's Residential, Small C&I Default Service Rates Increase 150%

Unitil Energy Systems, Inc. has filed with the New Hampshire PUC new electric default service rates for the period beginning December 1, 2021

Unitil's residential fixed default service rate, including the RPS adder, will be $0.17518 per kWh for the six-month period beginning December 1, 2021. That's nearly 150% higher than the current rate of $0.07091 per kWh

Unitil's residential default service rate under the monthly variable option will be as follows (all rates include RPS adder and are in $/kWh):

Dec-21     $0.20547
Jan-22     $0.24362
Feb-22     $0.23527
Mar-22     $0.15399
Apr-22     $0.07739
May-22     $0.08720

For small commercial customers (G2 and OL Class), Unitil's residential fixed default service rate, including the RPS adder, will be $0.15381 per kWh for the six-month period beginning December 1, 2021. That's over 150% higher than the current rate of $0.05992 per kWh

Unitil's small commercial default service rate under the monthly variable option will be as follows (all rates include RPS adder):

Feb-22     $0.22003
Mar-22     $0.13695
Apr-22     $0.06770
May-22     $0.06949

In a procurement, Unitil selected NextEra Energy Marketing, LLC as the winning bidder for the small customer (Non-G1) supply requirement (100% share), the medium customer (Non-G1) supply requirement (100% share), and the large customer (G1) supply requirement (100% share). All three transactions are for a period of six months.

Rates remain subject to PUC approval
