TXU Energy launched a new Texas residential electricity plan -- TXU Energy Freedom Rewards - under which customers may earn 30% in free electricity, called Energy Cash rewards, for every dollar they spend on Energy Charges during the term of the plan

"Freedom Rewards provides flexibility and control like no other product on the market – it's truly like having your own electricity savings account," said Sydney Seiger, chief marketing officer for TXU Energy. "Customers automatically earn Energy Cash rewards every month and can redeem them whenever they'd like – whether that's saving some each month or perhaps to save a lot on a certain bill. It's the freedom of a lower electricity bill, anytime you want."

"Energy Cash can easily be redeemed online, through the TXU Energy app, or over the phone. Savings accrue all year long on the plan and there are no limits to how much customers can earn. There are also no blackout or expiration dates for using rewards while customers are on the plan. Energy Cash can be tracked online, through the app and on monthly statements," TXU said

Energy Cash rewards are only earned on paid-for Energy Charges on the customer's TXU Energy bill and not on other charges, taxes or when the customer pays a bill by redeeming Energy Cash. Energy Cash has no cash, credit or other redemption value and cannot be transferred. Energy Cash will be applied automatically to the customer's final Freedom Rewards bill with any remaining, unused Energy Cash eligible for use for 60 days after the customer's term ends if the customer re-enrolls on an eligible plan.

The maximum Energy Cash amount that can be earned (30% of the customer's Energy Charges) will be determined by the portion of the customer's monthly bill paid with cash or cash equivalent, excluding the redemption of any Energy Cash. There is no restriction on the amount of Energy Cash that may be accumulated during the term of a plan, however, any unused Energy Cash will expire 60 days after term expiration.

In the Oncor service area, TXU's Freedom Rewards 12 plan is a 12-month fixed rate with an average all-in rate, at 1,000 kWh, of 18.4 cents per kWh. However, TXU also lists on the EFL a second line showing the average rates "with discount", reflecting the redemption of the cash rewards. With such discount, the average all-in rate, at 1,000 kWh, is 14.5 cents per kWh. Both average rates reflect a base charge of $9.95 per month and an Energy Charge of 12.9000¢ per kWh.

The TXU Freedom Rewards 12 plan has an early termination fee of $150
