Maine Versant-MPD Residential SOS Rate To Increase 84%

The Maine PUC has approved new Standard Offer electricity rates for the residential/small customer and medium commercial customer classes at Versant Power-Maine Public District (MPD, formerly Maine Public Service)

The Versant-MPD residential and small customer Standard Offer rate will be $0.110873 per kWh for the period January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022, or 84% higher than the current rate of $0.060267 per kWh

The new residential Standard Offer price amounts to an increase of about $25 per month on the total bill for an average customer using 500 kWh/month, the PUC said

Versant-MPD medium class Standard Offer customers will see an average increase of 86 percent in the supply portion of their bill. Prices in this class vary by month, and are shown below:

The PUC noted that the Commission previously entered into a three-year contract with New Brunswick Energy Marketing Corporation as the Standard Offer provider for MPD residential and small non-residential, and medium non-residential classes beginning January 1, 2020. The prices for the residential and small non-residential class and the medium non-residential class are indexed to Standard Offer prices in the comparable Standard Offer classes for Central Maine Power Company and Versant Power’s Bangor Hydro District through 2022.
