Another Tesla Subsidiary Files As Texas Power Generation Company
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by EC Infosystems, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
Giga Texas Energy LLC has filed a registration at the Texas PUC as a Texas power generation company
Giga Texas Energy's registration was redacted in its entirety.
However, an ERCOT Standard Generation Interconnection Agreement between
LCRA Transmission Services Corporation
and
Giga Texas Energy, LLC was recently filed with the Texas PUC
Such agreement describes Giga Texas Energy's plant as follows: "The Plant is a Battery Energy Storage
System ('BESS') facility with one Point of Interconnection to the grid. The Plant
nameplate rating will be approximately 163.2-MVA of AC power (with a maximum real
power rating of 131.05-MW) at the inverter 480VAC terminals (low voltage)."
The agreement further stated: "Type of Generating Unit Sixty-eight (68) MEGAPACK BESS inverters rated at
approximately 2-MW each"
Giga Texas Energy (along with Gambit Energy Storage, LLC) had been identified as a PGC affiliate of Tesla Energy Ventures, LLC when Tesla Energy Ventures filed for its Texas retail electric provider certificate, which had been first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com on Aug. 16
However, while identified as a PGC affiliate at such time, it does not appear Giga Texas Energy filed a registration as a PGC with the PUC until now
Texas Secretary of State records also show that the manager of Giga Texas Energy, LLC is Tesla, Inc.
