Municipal Aggregation Launches Home Electrification Program

East Bay Community Energy (EBCE), an opt-out municipal aggregation (CCA) serving more than 1.7 million customers in California, said that it has partnered with BlocPower, a Brooklyn-based climate technology company, on a home electrification program

Following an initial pilot upgrading and electrifying 12 Oakland homes, the two companies will electrify 60 additional homes throughout EBCE's service territory.

The companies called the program a first-of-its-kind partnership for CCAs

EBCE is providing $1M in project financing and $400,000 in incentives to fund the program, aimed at low- and moderate-income single-family homes

Together, with their local community partners, the two companies will electrify the heating, cooling, and hot water systems, and install electric appliances. They will also deliver weatherization and remediation
