Lubbock Power & Light Formally Seeks Texas PUC Approval To Move Remaining Load Into ERCOT, A Step For Implementing Forthcoming Retail Choice

The City of Lubbock, acting by and through Lubbock Power & Light (LP&L), filed an application at the Texas PUC for authority to integrate the remaining portion of its load into the Electric Reliability Council Of Texas (ERCOT) and for approval of a related settlement agreement with SPS (Docket 53529)

Moving the remaining LP&L load into ERCOT is a step required for LP&L to move forward with its transition to retail electricity choice, which, as previously reported, the city council has approved (story here)

The ERCOT integration application relates only to the ERCOT integration and does not contain any provisions directly related to retail choice (e.g. the forthcoming unbundled delivery tariff, the non-choosing customer assignment process, etc.)
