Texas PUC Staff Posts Preliminary List Of Non-Volunteer POLRs

Staff of the Texas PUC has filed an initial preliminary list of non-volunteer POLRs (large service providers, or LSPs), by service area and customer class, as well as volunteer POLRs (VREPs), for the 2023-2024 two-year term
Retail electric providers (REPs) may file challenges to Staff's eligibility determination and initial designation as an LSP (non-volunteer POLR), an LSP's designation of an affiliate to serve as an LSP, and VREPs, by September 8, 2022.
As previously reported, TXU Energy Retail Company LLC and Reliant Energy Retail Services LLC each applied to be volunteer POLRs
Each REP filed most of the specifics of their VREP requests under seal
Staff's initial list shows the service areas and customer classes for which TXU and Reliant have offered to serve as VREPs
TXU has applied to be a VREP for all service areas in the residential service class; for all service areas in the small non-residential class, and for all service areas, except AEP North, in the medium non-residential class
Reliant has applied to be a VREP for all service areas in the residential service class, and for all service areas in the small non-residential class
Both TXU's and Reliant's VREP status would be limited to an amount of ESI IDs offered by each company; the specific amounts of ESI IDs offered to be served by each VREP is not public.
There are no VREPs for the large non-residential class
