Texas Consultant Receives Option 2 REP Certificates To Facilitate Self-Supply By Customers, New Large Load Services Offering
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by EC Infosystems, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
Several entities of Priority Energy Transition, a unit of consultant Priority Power, have received Option 2 Texas retail electric provider certificates to assist customers in being self-supplier REPs, as part of a new Large Load Services offering
Specifically, Priority Energy Transition 1, LLC and Priority Energy Transition 2, LLC have received Option 2 REP certificates
Certificates for additional pending Priority Energy Transition applicants (Priority Energy Transition 3, LLC; Priority Energy Transition 4, LLC; and Priority Energy Transition 5, LLC) are expected to be granted shortly. PUC Staff have recommended approval of such applications
As exclusively reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, Priority Power said that it has no intention of becoming a retail electric provider, but is seeking the certificates to assist large loads in becoming their own self-suppliers
Option 2 REPs are limited to serving customers 1 MW and larger which provide an affidavit agreeing to such service
In July, Priority Power provided the following statement concerning the matter:
"For over 20 years, Priority Power has been a proven leader in the energy management marketplace. That leadership is based on the simple fact that we always sit on the side of our customer, providing the most economic, sustainable power solutions possible, with full transparency every step of the way.
"Our ability to do this successfully is often based on our unique ability to be able to anticipate and prepare for customer needs, often well in advance. This is one reason why our customer retention rate is extremely high.
"Today [in July 2022], we filed an Option II REP application, Priority Energy Transition LLC, for just that reason - in this case to be able to offer a few, specific end users alternative solutions based on anticipated growth and need for flexibility in a dynamic regulatory and market structure environment. We are not going to be a REP in the traditional sense. There are long regulatory lead times to set up these entities, and we simply want to be prepared to facilitate an alternative solution based on potential need in the future.
"This new service line, Large Load Services, will allow us to continue to serve our large load customers the Priority Way – providing the most economic, sustainable power solutions possible – while taking no commodity risk. This nontraditional approach is another example of Priority Power leading by developing unique solutions for large power consumers.
"Again, Priority Power has no intention of becoming a Retail Electric Provider. Our business is focused on the same thing it has been for 20 years - to continue to be the leader in providing customer focused energy management solutions."
