Texas Retail Provider Launches New Solar Buy Back Program

Retail electric provider Energy Texas has launched in Texas a solar buy back product for residential customers
Under the "Sun Jacinto" Solar Buy Back plan, Energy Texas says that it will buy power from the customer at the same rate the customer pays Energy Texas for energy ("Your bill credit amount will be based on the per kWh Energy
Charge applicable to your service plan.")
Customers may enroll into the solar buy back program if they are served under various qualifying Energy Texas service plans; there is not a buyback-specific retail plan to which solar buy back program participants are limited.
Solar generation credits don't expire and will roll over month to month to the extent they exceed the customer's monthly bill, Energy Texas said. No bill credits or portions thereof may be sold, assigned, transferred or redeemed for cash or any other item of value
Qualifying systems are those which rely exclusively on the sun as an energy source and have a rated capacity of 50 kW or less
