Retail Supplier To Pay $150,000 Under Settlement

Mega Energy of New England, LLC (Mega) would pay $150,000 under a settlement with the Office of Education, Outreach, and Enforcement (EOE) of the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (Authority) to resolve alleged deficiencies with respect to RPS filings and various annual compliance filings
The settlement payment will be a donation to Operation Fuel
Mega Energy provided the following statement concerning the matter:
"This settlement agreement brings closure to the Company’s delay in submitting required compliance filings to the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority. We appreciate efforts of the Office of Education, Outreach, and Enforcement to amicably resolve this matter in a way that immediately benefits Operation Fuel’s ability to serve customers in need within the State of Connecticut."

As stated in the settlement, "Mega did not timely file its 2022 RPS Compliance or Licensing Compliance pursuant to the due dates indicated by statute, regulation, and Authority Decisions."
The settlement also addresses allegations that Mega did not timely file several other (non-RPS) periodically required compliance reports related to licensing and similar requirements. The settlement states, "This Settlement Agreement does not represent an admission or concession by Mega as to the claims, or facts or circumstances surrounding the claims, or proper disposition of any issue that is the subject of the RPS Compliance NOV issued by PURA on October 27, 2022, or the Licensing Compliance NOV issued by PURA on December 1, 2022."
